Easter's Seals Technology Resource Center's Mission
ES/TRC works to educate and improve the lives of persons who have
development or acquired disabilities through the use of the latest
computer assistive technology. Our mission includes:
- Acquiring and maintaining a variety of equipment and software
for communication needs to include reading writing and speaking.
- Providing access to the latest resources in language development
and supporting technology.
- Supporting active early intervention and early childhood programs
for children at risk of learning.
- Providing support to pre-vocational and vocational options.
- Providing assistive technology support for those undertaking
gainful employment for working in a sheltered environment.
- Supporting the recreation and leisure applications of technology
to improve the quality for life, develop skills for self-sufficiency
and promote life-long learning.
Computer Recycling
Since 1996, Easter Sales' Technology Resource Center has received
a yearly grant from the Ohio Department of Education (ODOE) to place
recycled computers in special needs classrooms. Since ES/TRC's involvement
with this grant, over 125 computers have been placed in classrooms
and over 1500 special needs children have benefited in the 6-country
service area.
Due to generous donation of computers from organization such as
the Dayton-Montgomery Country Library, Channel 16 Think TV Network
and the Kraft Corporation, as well as donations for individuals,
ES/TRC has been able to acquire Pentium personal computers. Each
of these computers is then refurbished by installing free-ware downloaded
from the internet.
